Australian Plant Name Index (APNI)
The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.
APC Comment:R.O.Makinson, Fl. Australia 17A: 335 (2000) treated G. oxystigma [var.] heterophylla as illegitimate, presumably on the grounds that it was to be considered the type variety and should have been called [var.] oxystigma. There is no evidence for this. Meissner gave all three infraspecific taxa equal treatment, and the Code requires that he be deemed to have created the autonym [var.] oxystigma simultaneously. Makinson subsequently lectotypified both the species and var. heterophylla on the same specimen, making them nomenclatural synonyms, but var. heterophylla was legitimate when described. Makinson (2000) discussed three informal forms, following Olde & Marriott (1995): a 'typical (type) form', a 'broad-leaved form' and a 'southern form'.
