The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.

Text: The protologue of this variety is inadequate (Bentham 1878) and we have been unable to locate the type specimen (also not seen by Rendle 1899). It is possible that this is referable to X. operculata or X. complanata, both of which frequently have spreading bracts in fruit.

APC Comment: A name of uncertain application. A.N.Doust & B.J.Conn, Austral. Syst. Bot. 7(5): 483 (1994), state that it may be referable to either Xyris complanata R.Br. or X. operculata Labill.
