Comment: This taxon not found in Australia. The taxon is listed in the database since it is the type of a genus. Stein discusses dinflagellates in the 1878 publication from page 83 to page 101. He does not put the two parts of the binomial together formally in this discussion although he does say that the Ehrenberg taxon is a Gymnodinium. Placement of the two parts of the binomial together is found in Stein 1883. -
