Comment: Gomont (1892: 141) provided 14 previous references to this taxon the earliest of which was Oscillatoria lutea C.Agardh 1824. Gomont supplied an 1890 reference and specifically states the binomial as Lynbya lutea Gomont. The ICN dictates that the name of this taxon commences from 1892.
