  • Comment: Heynhold attributes this name to "Lod.". C.Loddiges et al., Bot. Cab. 6: t. 523 (1821), provide an illustration of "Metrosideros semperflorens" but without a validating description or diagnosis.
  • APC Comment: W.D. Hooker & B.D.Jackson, Index Kew. 1: 388, 2: 222 (1895) and A.D.Chapman, Austral. Pl. Name Index 544, 1993 (1991), list both "Callistemon semperflorens Lodd." and "Metrosideros semperflorens Lodd." with the same reference (Bot. Cab. 6: t. 523 (1821)), however, the name Callistemon semperflorens does not appear on the plate, in the text or in the index to the work.
