Etymology: "The epithet is derived from the Latin intertextus, meaning ‘interwoven’, probably in reference to the prominent tubercles on the fruit which are longitudinally arranged along the margins of the lateral and dorsal ribs of the mericarps, often with interconnecting transverse ridges, making them appear interwoven ..."
