  • Type: "North Queensland (Atherton Tableland), Atherton and Ravenshoe, 10 iv 1955. Leg. W.W. et T. Abell; Yungaburra and Ravenshoe 17 iv 1955. Leg. S.F. St. Cloud et J.H. Wilkie. Holotype in the National Herbarium of New South Wales."
  • Etymology: "... named in honour of the first collectors. Mr. W. A. Abell has collected a number of new and rare orchids in several localities in Queensland has has generously donated many specimens to various herbaria."
