See Brooker & Hopper (1991) for a discussion of the previous widespread misapplication of the name E. redunca to many other species. Many of the 28 species recognised by them were treated under a single, broadly defined E. redunca by earlier workers, such as Mueller (1879) and Gardner (1945). These multitudinous misapplications are not formally listed here.
