The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. Comment: Validated by references to P.Magnol, Bot. Monspeliense 17 (1676); Hort. Monspeliensis 14 (1697), which are pre-Linnaean works. Reference to basionym indirect, in that the first of these works is the same used by Linnaeus as the basis for Anagallis caerulea L. Published as `γ caerulea'.
