  • Text: "Despite various references to Nicotiana maritima being (or having been) a member of the Victorian flora, I believe each piece of evidence for this is to be mistaken, either through mixing or misinterpretation of herbarium specimen labels, or through misidentification as a result of contemporary keys to identification relying on relatively weak characters for discerning N. maritima from its near relatives.”
