The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. Comment:G.Paczkowska & A.R.Chapman, W. Austral. Fl. 75 (2000) list the name "Caladenia applanata subsp. applanata", but this autonym was not established until 2001 via the first valid publication of a name at subspecific rank within C. applanata.
APC Comment:The name "Caladenia applanata subsp. applanata" is listed by N.Hoffman & A.Brown, Orchids South-West Australia 2nd edn, 100 (1992); N.Hoffman & A.Brown, Orchids South-West Australia 2nd edn (rev.), 100 (1998) and by G.Paczkowska & A.R.Chapman, W. Austral. Fl. Desc. Cat. 75 (2000). However, this autonym did not exist until established by S.D.Hopper & A.P.Brown, Nuytsia 14(1/2): 46 (2001), in accordance with ICN Art. 26.3 (Melbourne Code, 2012).
