APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. Etymology:"Named after Mr Wayne Merrin (1947-), landscape supplier, businessman, and keen member of the Western Australian Native Orchid Study and Conservation Group, who has helped us in finding many interesting orchis populations, and first alerted us about the presence of this large-flowered white spider orchid near Blackwood River."
