Vascular Plants
Australian Plant Name Index (APNI)
The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.
Type:"Victoria. In the Murray scrub, F. Mueller; Wimmera, Dallachy."
Comment:G.Bentham, Fl. Austral. 3: 77 (1867) attributes authorship of the name Baeckea ericaea to Mueller, citing "F.Muell. Fragm. i: 34", however the taxon is not published in that work (see also A.D.Chapman, Austral. Pl. Name Index, 344 (1991)), nor is it listed in the index to Mueller's Fragmenta. Some authors (e.g. J.H.Willis, Handb. Pl. Victoria 2nd edn, 2: 456 (1973); M.E.Trudgen in J.P.Jessop & H.R.Toelken (eds), Fl. S. Australia 4th edn, 2: 893 (1986); J.A.Jeanes in N.G.Walsh & T.J.Entwisle, Fl. Victoria 3: 1035 (1996)) have attributed authorship of Baeckea ericaea to "(F.Muell.) Benth." and list the name "Baeckea microphylla var. ericaea" as the basionym, but this name was also not published by Mueller.
