"E. Soepadmo, op. cit. [i.e. Flora Malesiana ser. 1, 8:] 50 (1977), treated this taxon as T. cannabina Lour. However, T. cannabina has orange to red fruits and does not seem to occur in Australia."
nom. illeg. , as the epithet aspera (dating from 1834) was available at varietal rank and should have been adopted in preference to the epithet viridis (dating from 1848).
